Mexican Poutine

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 heaping cup French fries, cooked
  • ½ cup curd cheese
  • 1/3 cup hot poutine sauce
  • 1/3 cup ground beef (or plant-based substitute), cooked with taco spices
  • ¼ cup corn kernels (canned or thawed)
  • ¼ cup diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp red onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp salsa
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tbsp guacamole

STEPS

  1. Cook the French fries according to your preferred method (in the oven, deep fryer, or air fryer), until a deep golden colour and crisp. 
  2. Heat the poutine sauce in a small pot over low heat, or in the microwave, until very hot. 
  3. Cook the meat in a frying pan with a bit of olive oil. Add taco spices (store-bought, or to taste) and cook until the meat is well done and seasoned. 
  4. Place the hot French fries in a large, deep plate or bowl. Sprinkle evenly with cheese curds. Pour over the hot poutine sauce to lightly melt the cheese. 
  5. Layer with the seasoned beef, corn kernels, diced tomatoes, and red onions. 
  6. Add a spoonful of salsa, sour cream, and guacamole on top. 
  7. Serve immediately, while the fries are still crisp and the cheese is melted.
