BBQ pulled pork tacos

Nothing’s more festive than serving pulled pork tacos when you’re having guests over. Easy to prepare and a guaranteed success!

 

INGREDIENTS

Pulled pork

  • 1 pork shoulder, approx. 2 lbs (900 g)
  • 3 teaspoons (15 mL) salt
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin 
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons (30 mL) canola oil

Tacos

  • 12 regular 4.5-in. tortillas
  • 1 lb pulled pork
  • 1 cup (240 mL) spicy pineapple and habanero pepper salsa (link to recipe)
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) chopped white onion
  • ½ cup (120 mL) chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 limes, cut in wedges

STEPS

Pulled pork

  • Combine salt, pepper and all the spices.
  • Brush the pork shoulder with oil and rub the meat with the spice mixture.
  • In a pan on high heat, brown the meat on all sides for a few minutes.
  • Place in a slow cooker on high for 4 hours.
  • Once cooked, remove the shoulder and use a fork to shred the pork. Set aside.

Tacos

  • Finely chop the white onion.
  • Wash and coarsely chop the cilantro.
  • On the grill or in a pan, heat the tortillas for a few seconds on each side.
  • Fill the tacos with pulled pork, pineapple salsa, white onion and chopped cilantro.
  • Add a wedge of lime (to taste).
