Apple, Honey and Melted Cheese Wraps

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe that the kids will love. Perfect for a unique lunch, snack to-go, or even an on-the-fly dessert in the park!

 

INGREDIENTS

Ingredients: 

  • 4 Mejicano tortillas
  • 4 apples, cut into small cubes
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • Pinch of cinnamon

 

Optional toppings

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel sauce
  • Whipped cream, home-made or store-bought

STEPS

  1. Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add the apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. 
  2. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring often, until the apples are tender and golden. 
  3. Lay a tortilla flat on your work surface. 
  4. Spread ¼ of the caramelized apples over half of the tortilla and sprinkle with some of the grated cheese. 
  5. Fold the tortilla into a half-moon shape. 
  6. In a lightly oiled pan, fry each quesadilla 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy, and the cheese is melted. 
  7. Cut each quesadilla into 2 or 3 triangles. Serve hot, either plain or with a scoop of ice cream, a drizzle of caramel, or a dollop of whipped cream.
